ABS PUMP REPLACEMENT GUIDELINES
When replacing an ABS pump, the procedures listed below must be followed:
^ Thoroughly clean the area around the inlet and outlet hoses to ensure that no dirt or other foreign material enters the system.
^ Pre-fill the pump head with DOT4 brake fluid from a sealed container prior to installation. Fill both the suction and outlet sides.
^ Once the pump is installed and the lines attached, fit a clear plastic hose to the bleed valve. Insert the opposite end of the hose into a container, held lower than the bottom of the fluid reservoir. Open the valve and allow fluid to "gravity bleed" into the container until the flow is free of bubbles. DO NOT PUMP The BRAKE PEDAL. Replace the bleed valve dust cap after bleeding.
^ Replace the ABS pump relay with a new part (PRC8049).
^ Switch on the ignition and check for normal power assist system operation.
Under normal conditions, no other system bleed will be required in conjunction with pump replacement.
