The Sportage 4WD front hub knuckle and seals have been redesigned from 3/17/99 production. The old inner and outer dust/grease seals were single lip designs, which, under certain 4 wheel drive operating conditions, could allow water and dirt into the hub bearings.

Vehicles produced after 3/17/99 incorporate an additional double lip inner seal and a new double lip outer seal to eliminate vacuum leakage and hub bearing contamination. A different knuckle is used to accommodate the new double inner seal.
