Suction Line

3.0L ENGINE

WARNING: Refer to the applicable warnings and cautions for this system before performing the following operation Warning and Caution. Failure to follow the warnings and cautions could result in possible personal injury or death.





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the beauty cover from the top of the engine.
3. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system Refrigerant System Recovery.
4. Remove the air intake tube Air Cleaner Housing - Removal.
5. Remove the nut (9) that secures the A/C suction line (1) to the A/C expansion valve (10).
6. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C expansion valve and the retaining brackets (2 and 8) and remove and discard the O-ring seal.




7. On 4 wheel drive models, remove the battery and battery tray to gain access to the A/C compressor (4) Battery Tray - Removal.
8. Remove the metal bracket that secures the A/C suction line to the A/C discharge line.
9. Remove the nut (5) that secures the A/C suction line (2) to the A/C compressor.
10. Disconnect the A/C suction line from the A/C compressor and remove and discard the dual-plane seal.
11. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened suction line fittings and the compressor and expansion valve ports.
12. Remove the A/C suction line from the engine compartment.
