Load Compensator: Adjustments

1. Position vehicle on level surface and remove all cargo and personal equipment before making adjustments. Failure to observe these procedures can result in unsatisfactory brake action. If a hoist is used, it must be a drive-on type. Do not use any type of twin post hoist.

2. Remove nut attaching lever to valve shaft, then pull lever and retainer off the valve shaft. Remove and discard old bushing as it is not reusable.
3. Clean threads and spline on valve shaft, then connect link to avoid a false reading.

4. Loosen valve mounting bolts two full turns, then turn valve shaft so shaft flat is approximately at the four o'clock position.

5. Install and position valve adjusting gauge on mounting bolts and shaft. There should be no clearance between gauge and shaft and bolts. Ensure gauge is seated on the shaft flat.
6. Install retainer in the lever, if necessary, then insert new bushing in retainer and lever.
7. Start bushing and lever on valve shaft, then press bushing and lever onto shaft using an installer, and a C-clamp and suitable size socket.
8. Remove adjusting gauge and bushing installation tool, then torque valve mounting bolts to 118 inch lbs. Install and torque lever attaching nut to 100 inch lbs.
9. Lower vehicle and road test.
