Wiper Switch: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Remove turn signal switch as described under Turn Signal Switch Replacement @ Lighting and Horns/ Turn Signals/ Turn Signal Switch/ Service and Repair.
3. Remove ignition lock as described under Ignition Lock Replacement @ Starting and Charging/ Starting System/ Ignition Lock/ Service and Repair.
4. Remove column-to-instrument panel mounting nuts, then disconnect wiper switch electrical connector.
5. Remove under column trim. If equipped with column shift, remove PRNDL cable clip.
6. Remove column mounting bracket-to-column attaching bolts, then the bracket and allow column to drop down.
7. On models less tilt steering column, proceed as follows:
a. Remove housing attaching screws, then the housing and shroud assembly from steering column jacket.
b. Turn assembly over and remove housing to shroud attaching screws and separate housing from shroud.
c. Remove wiper pivot screw from housing, then remove wiper switch.
8. On models with tilt steering column, proceed as follows:
a. Remove upper housing attaching screws, then the upper housing.
b. Remove wiper switch side cover and dimmer switch operating cam.

c. Using a 1/8 inch diameter punch, press out wiper switch retaining pin and remove wiper switch.
9. Remove wiper switch cover from back of housing and shroud assembly. If equipped with column shift, remove screw holding cover on.
10. Reverse procedure to install.
