Valve Body: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove oil pan and screen, then disconnect solenoid wire connectors as outlined under "Valve Body Solenoids, Replace."

2. Remove valve body oil tubes, Fig. 6, by carefully prying with a screwdriver.

3. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle cam, then remove valve body bolts, Fig. 7, and lower valve body.
Fig. 8 Accumulator Springs:
4. Remove overdrive clutch accumulator springs, direct clutch accumulator spring and spacer, Fig. 8, second brake accumulator spring and spacer.
Fig. 9 Check Ball & Spring:
5. Remove valve body, check ball and spring, Fig. 9.
Note: For Check Ball locations, refer to Valve Body/Component locations. Locations
INSTALLATION
1. Connect cable to throttle cam, then install check ball and spring, Fig. 9.
Fig. 10 Shift Sector & Manual Valve:
2. Position accumulator springs and spacers on valve body, then align valve body manual valve with shift sector and carefully position valve body on case, Fig. 10.

3. Install valve body bolts and tighten evenly to specifications, then install valve body oil tubes as shown, Fig. 11.
4. Install solenoid connectors, oil screen and pan, then fill transmission with fluid.
