COMPONENT SERVICE MANUAL REVISIONS
This I.S. Note contains revisions to the B.V. BA 10/5 Component Service Manual. Refer to the revised information when servicing a BA 10/5 manual transmission.
Backup Light Switch
The tightening torque for the backup light switch has been revised. The new torque is 15-19 N-m (11- 14 ft.lbs.). Make a note of the new torque on pages 5 and 39 of the manual.
The backup light switch does not require a washer. Make a note of this information on pages 8 and 9 of the manual (the switch is item 76).
Input Shaft Bearing Preload
Input shaft bearing preload and the method of selecting the desired preload shim have been revised. Make a note of the revisions on page 33 of the manual.
The new input shaft preload is 0.05 mm/0.002 in. (original preload was 0.10 mm/0.004 in.).
The new shim selection method involves: Rounding required shim thickness up or down to the nearest 0.05 mm/0.002 in. increment to arrive at desired thickness. An example of the procedure is as follows:
