DISCUSSION:
The replacement starter motors previously used to service the 2.5L engine (P/N 53002125 and 56027350) are no longer available. These starters have been superseded by an improved starter motor, P/N 56027904. This starter does not require the .045 inch shim which was used with the previous starters. This shim must be removed when the new starter is installed. Failure to remove the shim may cause excessive noise or cause the starter pinion to hang up in the ring gear and not release when the ignition switch is returned from the crank position.
