SYMPTOM/CONDITION

When replacing the outer front door panel on the subject vehicles, new anti-rattle compound must be applied on the outside mirror reinforcement. Without the anti-rattle compound, the mirror reinforcement may rub on the adjacent panel and create a rattle or squeak that will be very difficult to stop once the panel is installed.

This procedure applies to all front door outer panels with the following part numbers:

PROCEDURE

This procedure involves removing any anti-rattle compound on the panel as received and applying new anti-rattle compound as explained in the following procedure.

1. Remove any old anti-rattle compound that may be on the part as received.

2. Apply a bead of 3M Fast-N-Firm (#8505) or equivalent to the contact points indicated.

3. Continue with the door panel installation as described in the applicable service manual.
