SUNROOF SERVICE
The following procedure has been developed for disassembly and assembly or replacement of the sunroof on the 1984-86 Wagoneer/Cherokee models (Fig. 1).

PROCEDURE
Disassembly
1. When removing the glass assembly, turn the adjuster handle (A) to the full open position (Fig. 2).
2. Push in on the red release buttons (B) and push up on the glass to release it from the adjuster assembly.

3. Continue pushing up on the glass until the safety latch (C) makes contact with the striker plate (Fig. 3).

4. Trip the safety latch to allow the glass to be lifted away from the frame.
5. Press firmly inward on the hinge area (D) to release the glass from the hinge pivots (Fig. 4).

6. Hold the adjuster handle (E) to prevent the handle from turning and remove the retaining screw. (F) and handle (Fig. 5).

7. Remove the screws holding the top plate (G) to the adjuster (Fig. 6).
8. Remove the screws holding the adjuster assembly (H) to the sunroof frame and remove the adjuster assembly.

9. To remove the sunroof frame, pull the flange seal (I) up and away from the sunroof frame
(J) to expose the roof-to-retainer screws (K) (Fig. 7).

10. Disconnect the drain tubes (L) and remove the retainer-to-roof screws and retainer (Fig. 8).
11. Remove the reinforcement (M) by removing the screw and cutting the sealer with a wire or a hot knife.
12. Remove the drain hose(s) (N) by pulling them up through the roof rail and A-pillars.
13. Remove the sunroof frame (P) from the roof panel.
ASSEMBLY PREPARATION
Prior to assembly of the sunroof, remove the sealer from the flange seal and the top of the vehicle.
When sealing the sunroof, refer to the sealant application chart on page R-10 or R-11 of the M.R. 247 as appropriate.
Assembly
Reverse the disassembly procedure for assembly.
