1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove air cleaner and hood.
2. Drain cooling system and remove upper and lower radiator hoses.
3. Remove fan shroud, then disconnect automatic transmission cooling lines from radiator, if equipped.
4. Remove radiator and, if equipped with A/C, the A/C condenser.
5. Remove fan assembly.
6. Disconnect heater hoses, throttle linkage, throttle valve cable and cruise control cable, if equipped.
7. Disconnect hose from power brake booster.
8. Disconnect and label all wires and vacuum hoses which will interfere with engine removal.
9. Remove power steering pump and position aside.
10. Disconnect fuel line from fuel pump.
11. Disconnect hoses from A/C compressor, if equipped.
12. Raise and support vehicle, then disconnect exhaust pipes from exhaust manifolds.
13. Disconnect exhaust pipe from catalytic converter flange and allow pipe to drop to floor.
14. Remove transmission housing inspection cover.
15. If equipped with automatic transmission, mark torque converter to drive plate location, then remove converter to drive plate attaching bolts.
16. Disconnect wires from starter motor, then remove transmission housing to engine retaining bolts.
17. Lower vehicle and support transmission with suitable jack.
18. Remove air pump to support bracket retaining bolts, then position air pump aside.
19. Install a suitable engine hoist, then remove engine mount through bolts.
20. Disconnect ground strap at left side cylinder head.
21. Raise engine and remove from vehicle.
22. Reverse procedure to install.
