Valve Guide: Service and Repair

Valve guides are an integral part of the cylinder head. When valve stem to guide clearance is excessive, ream valve guide bores to the next larger valve stem size. Valves are available with .003, .015 and .030 inch oversize stems. Ream valve guide bores in steps, starting with the .003 inch reamer and progressing to the size required.
