Mark installation position of all components, hoses and wiring prior to removal to aid reassembly.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, drain coolant and remove air cleaner.
2. On 1983-86 models, disconnect fuel lines, air horn vent hose, idle speed control hose and electrical connector, choke heater connector and throttle linkages.
3. On 1987 models, disconnect fuel inlet and return hoses, idle speed actuator electrical connector and throttle cable.
4. On all models, disconnect coolant hoses from intake manifold.
5. Disconnect vacuum hoses from vacuum advance control valve and EGR valve, and electrical connectors from coolant sensor and intake manifold heater. Also disconnect PCV valve hose from intake manifold
6. On 1983-86 models, remove carburetor retaining nuts, then remove carburetor from manifold.
7. On 1987 models, remove throttle body retaining nuts, then remove throttle body from intake manifold.
8. On models with power steering, remove mounting bracket and position pump aside without disconnecting hoses.
9. On all models, disconnect EGR tube from intake manifold, then remove mounting bolts and the manifold, Fig. 2.
10. Reverse procedure to install, using new gaskets on manifold and carburetor, and torque manifold bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 4.
