Information
The annulus gear and range fork used in Model 208 transfer cases built after October 1, 1982, are steel stampings instead of the forged components used previously. A new input gear thrust washer is also used with the improved components.
The stamped and forged components are not interchangeable. The stamped annulus gear, range fork and new input gear thrust washer must be installed as a set when servicing a 208 transfer case originally equipped with the forged parts.
NOTE: Technical Bulletin 2-07-82, filed in Group 2 and issued September 10, 1982, makes reference to the previous forged parts for a service repair. Make note of the new stamped part numbers on your copies of this bulletin.
