Choke Disassembly - Model 2150
NOTE: The choke mechanism on 2150 carburetors cannot be serviced with the carburetor on the engine. The carburetor must be removed to properly service the choke components.

1. Disconnect the choke heater wire and remove the choke shield.
2. Grind the heads off the choke cover breakaway screws (1981 models) or the choke cover rivets (1982 models) (Fig. 3). Remove the retaining clamp, choke cover and coil and cover gasket. Remove the remaining portion of the rivets after removing the cover.

3. Remove the clips that retain the choke rod, fast idle cam rod and the vacuum diaphragm rod to the choke lever and shaft (Fig. 4).
4. Remove the choke housing retaining screws and remove the housing and gasket.
5. Remove the choke lever and shaft. Remove the coil lever screw and remove the lever.
6. Clean and polish the choke lever and shaft with crocus cloth. Inspect the shaft bushing in the housing. Replace the bushing if worn or damaged.
7. Clean and inspect each of the choke mechanism components. Replace any parts that are worn or damaged.
