Information

This I.S. Note has been revised to include information on prior model year Jeep vehicles. Please remove and discard prior I.S. Note 5E, March 1983 edition.

This I.S. Note provides the information needed to service the choke mechanism on model BBD carburetors used on 1982-83 Jeep six-cylinder engines and model 2150 carburetors used on 1981-83 Jeep eight-cylinder engines.

Although the 1982-83 BBD and the 1981 through 1983-2150 carburetor choke mechanisms are preset at the factory and will not normally require any further adjustment, the choke mechanism should be serviced during major overhaul of the carburetor. Refer to the following procedures and make a note of this information on page 1J-71 of the 1981 Jeep Technical Service Manual, page 1J-72 of the 1982 Jeep Technical Service Manual and pages 46 and 47 of Supplement No. 1 to the 1982 Jeep Technical Service Manual.
