Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Drain engine oil from oil pan.
4. Disconnect battery cable and solenoid electrical connector from starter, then remove starter motor from vehicle.
5. Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then the oil pan.
6. Thoroughly clean oil pan and cylinder block gasket surfaces.
7. Install rear oil pan gasket into rear main bearing cap. Apply a suitable sealant to depression where pan gasket contacts cylinder block.
8. Position gasket onto oil pan. Apply a {1/8} x {1/4} inch bead of suitable sealer to split lines of front and side gasket.
9. Position oil pan onto cylinder block. Insert and torque pan side bolts to 75 inch lbs. Insert and torque oil pan to timing case cover bolts to 90 inch lbs.
10. Install starter motor. Torque {3/8} inch bolts to 27 ft. lbs. Torque No. 10 nut to 40 inch lbs.
11. Connect battery cable and solenoid electrical connector onto starter motor.
12. Lower vehicle.
13. Connect battery ground cable and add oil to engine.
