Parking Brake Cable Tension Release

Special Service tools





Electric Parking Brake release tool 206-082

CAUTION: The warranty of the electric parking brake release tool will be invalidated if the casing has been removed.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
1. Move the selector lever to the 'P' position.

Vehicles with manual transmission
2. Move the gearshift lever to the '5th' gear position.

All vehicles

3. Release the parking brake.





4. Remove the luggage compartment floor covering.





5. Remove the luggage compartment trim panel.





6. Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel.
^ Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel retaining clips.





7. Disconnect the parking brake module electrical connector.





8. Connect the special tool to the parking brake module wiring harness electrical connector.





9. NOTE: Operate the parking brake release tool until an audible noise is heard from the parking brake release

Release the parking brake cable tension.
10. Remove the special tool and carry out any necessary repair to the system.





11. Connect the parking brake module electrical connector.





12. Install the luggage compartment side trim panel.
^ Install the luggage compartment side trim panel retaining clips.





13. Install the luggage compartment trim panel.





14. Install the luggage compartment floor covering.
15. Apply the parking brake.

Vehicles with manual transmission
16. Move the gearshift lever to the 'Neutral' position.
