Parking Brake Cable: Adjustments
Parking Brake Cable AdjustmentParking brake cable adjuster socket.
1. Release the parking brake.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. NOTE: The following procedure makes sure that the rear parking brake cables are fully released and tensioned equally.
NOTE: 2.5L or 3.0L shown, 2.0L similar.
NOTE: Using special tool 206-087 loosen the rear parking brake cable.
Loosen the rear parking brake cables retaining nut.
4. NOTE: 2.5L or 3.0L shown, 2.0L similar.
NOTE: Using special tool 206-087 tighten the rear parking brake cable.
Tighten the rear parking brake cables until measurement A is 52 mm.
5. NOTE: 2.5L or 3.0L shown, 2.0L similar.
NOTE: Using special tool 206-087 loosen the rear parking brake cable.
Loosen the rear parking brake cables retaining nut.
6. NOTE: 2.5L or 3.0L shown, 2.0L similar.
NOTE: Using special tool 206-087 tighten the rear parking brake cable.
Tighten the rear parking brake cables until measurement A is 35 mm.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Operate the park brake five times to allow the rear park brake cables and the calipers to fully seat.
