Oil Leak From Engine Oil Drain Plug - V8 Engines Only -
Service Action S511
Issue:
A concern has been identified on 2004 MY V8 S-TYPE vehicles within the above VIN range. The engine oil drain plug-sealing washer may have been subject to an incorrect manufacturing process resulting in the washer being excessively brittle. This may cause the washer to fracture and allow engine oil to escape.
A number of vehicles have been reworked at the factory prior to dispatch and require no further rework under the terms of this Service Action.
Action:
If no parts are available, vehicles should be checked for evidence of an oil leak around the oil pan area. If no oil leak is present, the vehicle can be released for onward sale but should be brought back as soon as possible for the oil drain plug washer to be replaced.
If replacement parts are available, the vehicle should have the engine oil drain plug washer replaced prior to handover to the customer.
A number of vehicles have been reworked at the factory prior to dispatch and require no further rework under the terms of this Service Action.
To aid in the identification of the affected vehicles, a list was shown previously, detailing only those vehicles that require attention under this Service Action.
