Telephone Echo On Vehicles With Premium In-Car Entertainment (ICE) - Replace Audio Amplifier - Service Action S155

Issue:

On some 2003 S-TYPE vehicles, within the above VIN range, equipped with a telephone in addition to the Premium In-Car Entertainment system (ICE), the incoming caller can hear his/her voice echoing, resulting in the conversation being inaudible. This is due to an issue between the audio amplifier and telephone PSE signal timing. An updated amplifier is now available to eliminate this concern.

Action:

At the next service opportunity, identity any affected 2003 MY S-TYPE vehicles, within the above VIN range, and replace the audio amplifier with the latest version.

Note:
The release of the revised amplifier part number: C2C 18581 as a countermeasure to the phone echo concern also includes some revisions to the premium audio subwoofer settings. Customers may need to re-adjust their tone control settings to compensate for these changes.

WORKSHOP PROCEDURE

1. Open the luggage compartment.

2. Apply fender protectors.

3. Install a new audio amplifier, see Workshop Manual JTIS CD ROM, section: 415-01, SRO 86.50.10.

4. Remove the tender protection kit.

5. Close the luggage compartment.

Should the vehicle be brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken, an additional labor time allowance of 0.1 hours can be claimed quoting SRO: 10.10.10 for drive in/drive out.

The options that allow for drive in/drive out may only be claimed when the vehicle has been brought in to the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.

NOTE:
Always perform a DDW claim search first to determine whether this service action has been performed on this vehicle. The warranty selection under the vehicle inquiry will give a listing of all claims against the vehicle. If S155 appears in the program code field, do not perform this service action.
