Fluid Pan: Service and Repair


Fluid Pan, Gasket and Filter
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Place a suitable container under the transmission drain plug.





4. Remove the filler plug.





5. NOTE: If an integral problem is suspected, drain the fluid through a paper filter. A small amount of metal or friction particles may be found from normal wear. However, if excessive metal and friction particles are present, internal service will be required.

^ Remove the drain plug and drain the transmission fluid.
^ Remove and discard the sealing washer.





6. Detach the oxygen sensor connector block.
1. Disconnect the oxygen sensor electrical connectors.
2. Detach the oxygen sensor connector block.





7. Disconnect the transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.
^ Detach the protective cover.





8. Remove the oil pan.
^ Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
^ Remove and discard the gasket.





9. Remove and discard the transmission fluid filter.
^ Discard the 'O' ring seals.

Installation





1. Clean and inspect the transmission fluid pan and magnet.





2. CAUTION: Lubricate the fluid filter 'O' ring seals with WSS-M2C 202B Automatic Transmission Fluid or equivalent meeting Jaguar specification or the seals can be damaged.

^ Install a new transmission fluid filter.
^ Install new 'O' ring seals.





3. Install the oil pan magnet in the transmission fluid pan.





4. Install the transmission fluid oil pan.
^ Install a new gasket.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm.





5. Connect the transmission range (TR) sensor electrical connector.
^ Detach the protective cover.





6. Attach the oxygen sensor connector block.
1. Attach the oxygen sensor connector block.
2. Connect the oxygen sensor electrical connectors.





7. Install the transmission drain plug.
1. Tighten to 26 Nm.





8. Remove the center drain plug.





9. Fill the transmission until the fluid flows from the center drain plug.
^ Use WSS-M2C 202B Automatic Transmission Fluid or equivalent meeting Jaguar specification.





10. Install the center drain plug.





11. Install the filler plug.
12. Lower the vehicle.

13. NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal driving symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy.

Connect the battery ground cable.
