Incorrect/Missing Vacuum Routing Label - Install New Label - Service Action S138

Issue:

The vacuum routing label affixed to all 3.0L V6 2001 MY S-TYPE vehicles within the above VIN range, is incorrect or is missing.

^ Vehicles within the VIN range of L86902 to L98062 have an incorrect label that indicates an EGR valve is on the vehicle. 2001 MY V6 engines do not have an EGR valve.

^ Vehicles from VIN L98063 to M05473 have no label.

^ All 3.0L V6 vehicles within the above VIN range require a new vacuum harness label to be applied to the right side front suspension panel.

Note:
This Service Action does not cover 4.0L V8 vehicles.

All vehicles from VIN M05474 onwards have received the correct label during manufacture.

Action:

This work must be performed at the next convenient workshop visit.





All 3.0L V6 vehicles in the VIN range L86902-M05474 will require a new vacuum hose routing label on the right hand side front suspension panel (Illustration 1).

1. Open hood.

2. On vehicles within the VIN Range L86902-L98062, remove the existing vacuum hose routing label from the right side suspension tower (Illustration 1.) On vehicles with no label, proceed to step 3.





3. On all vehicles, position the correct Vacuum Hose Routing label (Illustration 2) centrally on the right (passenger) side of the suspension tower (Illustration 1). Ensure the label can be read from the right side of the car.

4. Close hood.

An initial supply of labels have been supplied direct on a free of charge basis.

Always perform a DCS claim search first to determine whether this service action has been performed on this vehicle. The warranty selection under the vehicle inquiry will give a listing of all claims against the vehicle. If S138 appears in the fault code field, do not perform this service action.

CLAIM SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

Warranty summary codes have been assigned to this service action in order to simplify claim submission. The dealership will be reimbursed the parts and labor time allowance as indicated.

DCS DEALERS

Submit claims using the appropriate summary code for the vehicle model and work performed. Follow standard campaign submission procedures.

NON-DCS DEALERS

Submit claims on the Recall Campaign Summary form W-25. Enter the appropriate summary code for the vehicle model and work performed in the Repair Code column. Do not use the W-1 warranty claim form.
