1. NOTE: When filling the reservoir, make sure that the fluid is clean and not agitated prior to use. The fluid should be poured slowly into the reservoir to minimize the possibility of aeration.

Fill the reservoir to the MAX mark.

2. NOTE: Do not start the engine.

Turn the steering from lock to lock.

3. Check the fluid level. Fill the reservoir if necessary.

4. NOTE: The engine must not be started or the steering wheel turned during the vacuum bleed procedure.

NOTE: The hand vacuum pump must be above the height of the reservoir at all times.

Using the special tool, bleed the system.
^ Using the hand vacuum pump apply a vacuum of 68 - 85 kPa (20 - 25 in-Hg). Maintain the vacuum until the air is evacuated from the system (a minimum of 10 minutes).
^ Release the vacuum at the hand vacuum pump.
5. Remove the hand vacuum pump. Fill the reservoir if necessary.
6. Start the engine and allow to idle for 5 minutes with the wheels in the straight ahead position.
7. Switch the engine off.
8. Check the fluid level. Fill the reservoir if necessary.
9. Start the engine, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. If excessive noise is apparent or shudder is evident through the steering wheel, repeat the bleed procedure.
