Thermostat: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System; Service and Repair.





2. Lower the vehicle.





3. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor electrical connector and the engine breather hoses.
4. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.





5. Remove the thermostat housing.
1. Disconnect the thermostat housing hoses.
2. Remove the thermostat housing.





6. Remove the thermostat.
1. Remove the two bolts.
2. Separate the housing.
3. Remove the thermostat.
^ Discard the O-ring seal.

Installation





1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Install a new O-ring seal.





2. Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System; Service and Repair.
