Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair
Removal
1. Remove the wiper arms. For additional information, refer to Wipers and Washer System. Service and Repair
2. Remove the cowl grille.
3. Remove the engine compartment brace.
4. Remove the master cylinder. For additional information, refer to Hydraulic System. Service and Repair
5. Detach the expansion tank.
6. Remove the driver side instrument panel lower panel.
1. Remove the retaining screws.
2. Unclip the lower panel.
3. Remove the panel.
- Disconnect the fuel flap and luggage compartment release switch electrical connector.
7. Remove the driver side air duct.
1. Remove the air duct retaining screw.
2. Remove the air duct.
8. Detach the hood latch release handle supporting plate.
9. Remove the brake booster retaining pin.
1. Remove the retaining clip.
2. Remove the brake booster retaining pin.
10. Remove the brake booster nuts.
11. NOTE: The non-return valve/vacuum pipe assembly should be removed with the brake booster.
Remove the brake booster.
Installation
1. NOTE:
- When renewing the brake booster, the non-return valve/vacuum pipe assembly should be installed prior to the brake booster installation.
- Replace the brake booster/pedal box gasket.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
