Coolant Reservoir: Service and Repair
- Remove the tank securing nut (2 Fig. 1).
- Disconnect the coolant probe multi-way connector.
- Displace the tank from the rear mounting grommet followed by the front grommet.
- Place a suitable receptacle below the tank, release the expansion tank hose to thermostat tee-piece securing clip, and remove the hose from the tee-piece, positioning the outlet hose over the receptacle.
- Fit a suitable blanking plug to the tee-piece. Remove the pressure cap (1 Fig. 1) and drain the coolant into the receptacle.
- Release the expansion tank hose clips and remove the hoses from the expansion tank. Discard the tank.
- Connect the hoses to the new expansion tank, and secure the hose clips.
- Remove the plug from the tee-piece and connect the outlet hose.
- Enter the tank into the front grommet and then the rear grommet and secure in position with the tank securing nut (2 Fig. 1).
- Fill the expansion tank with the correct coolant solution, refit the expansion tank pressure cap and run the engine until the thermostat is open.
- Switch off the engine, remove the expansion tank pressure cap and top-up with the correct coolant.
- Refit the expansion tank pressure cap.
