Parking Brake Cable: Adjustments
1. Lift the carpet adjacent to the handbrake lever mounting for access to the cable adjusting nuts (1); loosen the cable adjusting nuts.
NOTE: On XJS Convertibles, access to the cable adjusters is via the black trim panel adjacent to the seat runner mountings.
2. Adjust the handbrake cable in the car so that with the handbrake fully OFF, there is a small amount of slack in the cable.
CAUTION: If the cable is adjusted so that all the slack is removed, binding of the handbrake caliper may result.
3. Tighten the cable adjuster/locknut to 19 to 24 Nm (14 to 17.8 ft lb) and refit the sill carpet (Convertible - refit the trim panel).
