Exhaust Resonator: Service and Repair
TAIL PIPE AND SILENCERRENEW
NOTE: This operation covers both left and right hand tail pipe/silencer assemblies.
Drive the car on to a ramp. Raise the ramp. Remove the exhaust trim pipe screw (1 Fig 1) and remove the pipe (2 Fig 1).
Slacken off the tail pipe/silencer to rear intermediate pipe clamp nut/bolt (1 Fig 2).
Displace and remove the tail pipe/silencer assembly from the rear intermediate pipe (2 Fig 2).
Smear the new tail pipe/silencer and rear intermediate pipe unions with sealant.
Fit and seat the tail pipe/silencer to the rear intermediate pipe.
Fit the union clamp over the joints, and partially tighten the clamp nut/bolt.
Align the exhaust system, and final tighten all clamp nuts/bolts.
Fit and align the exhaust trim pipe. Tighten the securing screw. Lower the ramp.
