Beginning with VIN 576391, pre-1990 XJ6 vehicles incorporate brake accumulator switches (JLM 1562 and 1563) that have a revised internal seal.
Accumulator switches with the revised seal can be identified by green shrink tubing at either end of the switch wire wrap material, or by a pink harness band.
If a possible accumulator switch oil leak exists, the following inspection should be performed:
Pry the rubber wire grommet/end plug out of the switch and inspect the bore for oil.
If no oil exists behind the rubber plug, the switch seal is not leaking and the switch should not be replaced.
Reinsert the rubber end plug and locate actual leak source.
If incorrect accumulator switch operation exists, refer to Technical Bulletin section 66, number 5.
