Beginning with VIN 544748, a modified differential assembly has been introduced on production vehicles. The new differential features internal changes to eliminate differential noise during low speed turns.
NOTE: These changes were introduced at differential serial number 88B 60000.
To eliminate noise during low speed turns for vehicles in service (prior to VIN 544748), it is recommended that the existing differential lubricant be replaced with General Motors Rear Axle Lubricant and additives. This lubricant and additive is available from Cadillac dealers under the following part numbers:

Lubricant Additive: 1052358 2 bottles
NOTE: Jaguar Cars Inc. has been advised that Castrol Inc. is currently formulating a final drive lubricant which will meet the required specification. You will be advised when this product becomes available.
The following procedure should be performed when changing the differential lubricant on pre VIN 544748 vehicles:
1. Allow differential to reach operating temperature.
2. Allow differential to drain completely.
3. Refill differential with GM lubricant and additive (quantities listed above).
4. To ensure complete lubricant circulation in the differential assembly, complete at least 10 full lefthand and 10 full righthand lock turns.
