KEY POINTS: MODIFIED BLOWER MOTORS
A blower motor fan material change has been introduced to overcome problems associated with fan retention to the armature shaft of the motor, and fan blade damage due to stress fractures. Blower motor assemblies incorporating the revised material (Noryl GTX) were introduced commencing from VIN 516122.


NOTE: When investigating suspect blower motors, should any doubt exist as to whether the blower motors have been changed previously and are to the latest condition, the serial numbers or color code identification should be checked.
Introduction Serial Numbers 0011303 RH Blower Motor 0013826 LH Blower Motor

The Serial Number is located on a white adhesive label situated on the blower casing, adjacent to the recirculation flap actuator.

Color Code A yellow dot situated on the facing panel of the blower casing, adjacent to the blue identification label indicates a (Noryl GTX) fan.


The blower motor replacement procedure is as follows.

Replacement Procedure:

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the dash liner (right, left or both sides).

3. Remove the air discharge duct (right, left or both sides).

4. Loosen the two low screws and remove the two upper screws from the electrical component panel. Lower the panel (right side).

5. Remove the glove box - right side. Note position of door hinge shims.
6. Remove the two microprocessor/bracket assembly upper mounting bolts and two lower mounting screws and lower the central microprocessor and bracket assembly (right side).

7. Remove the horseshoe clip from the duct at the climate control unit.

8. Disconnect the blue vacuum line and the two electrical connectors (1 JST, 1 black PM4).

9. Remove the two mounting bolts and the blower assembly.

10. Remove tape and separate the duct from the blower assembly.

11. Install the revised blower assembly in reverse order.

WARRANTY INFORMATION: Repair Code: QB Replace both blower motors at same time as defrost flaps.

Repair Code: QC Replace both blower motors as separate repairs without defrost flap replacement.

TIME ALLOWANCE: 1.60
