Transmission Mount: Service and Repair



REMOVE
- Raise the vehicle on a ramp.
- Open the bonnet.

Ms-53B Engine Support Tool:





- Fit Service Tool MS 53B and MS 53B-1 across the engine.
- Fit the support hooks to the engine lifting eyes. Take the weight of the engine and tighten the locknut.
- Raise the ramp.

Underside View:





- Disconnect the intermediate pipes from over-axle pipe flanges.
- Disconnect stay brackets (5).
- Loosen clamps (1) and remove pipes complete with catalysts and rear mufflers.
- Remove the left and right hand heat shields.
- Remove the collision plate (3).
- Position a jack under the rear engine mounting plate.
- Locate a suitably formed block of wood between jack and plate to prevent damage.
- Remove the mounting to body securing bolts (4).
- Lower the jack.

Transmission Mount:





- Remove the mounting assembly, noting the positions of spacers (if fitted) and bolts of different length.
- Remove the stud and seating plate.

REFIT
- Thoroughly clean all components and examine for wear and damage.
- Replace worn or damaged components as necessary.
- Check the condition of the mounting rubbers, replace if necessary.
- Refit the stud and seating plate.
- Fit the mounting assembly, raise the jack and align the mounting securing bolt holes.
- Fit and tighten the securing bolts.
- Refit the collision plate.
- Refit the heat shields.
- Refit the exhaust pipes.
- Lower the vehicle and remove Service Tool MS 63B and MS 53B-1.
