Rear Spring
REAR ROAD SPRINGS
Remove and refit
Service tools: Hand press 47. Adaptor JD 11B.
Removing
NOTE: Rear springs can be removed with rear suspension fitted to car.
NOTE: Hydraulic dampers fitted to this car of the gas pressurized type and therefore not need to be exercised before installation
- Jack up car and remove rear road wheel.
- Support rear of car on stands
- Place lack to support wishbone
- Remove self-locking nut and bolt (1) securing top of hydraulic damper to suspension unit cross-beam
- Remove washers and nuts securing hydraulic dampers to wishbone.
- Drift Out damper mounting pin (2)
- Recover spacer at forward end of mounting pin tube (3)
- Withdraw hydraulic damper and roar spring assembly (4)
- Using tools 47 and JD 11B (5) compress road spring until collets and spring seat can be removed.
- Release spring pressure and withdraw hydraulic damper from road spring.
Refitting
- Replace spring on damper using tools 47 and JD 11B. insert unit replace spacer and secure damper in position.
- Tighten nuts (4 and 5) to correct torque.
- Replace road wheel.
