Air Injection Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve: Description and Operation
AIR Vacuum Switching Valve:
The ECM controls the AIR system by its control of the vacuum switching valve (VSV). By turning the VSV either "ON" or "OFF," the ECM directs air from the pump into the exhaust manifold at appropriate times. The ECM utilizes inputs from the following sensors when calculating AIR system operation:
Coolant temperature sensor
Throttle valve switch
Distributor (crank angle)
Vehicle speed sensor
