Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair

EVAPORATIVE EMISSION (EVAP) CANISTER PURGE SOLENOID VALVE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and support the vehicle only high enough to access the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve through the wheelhouse. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the left wheelhouse liner.




3. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) in order to disconnect the following from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve (3):
- The EVAP purge hose/pipe
- The EVAP purge hose (1)




4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




5. Remove the bolt securing EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine.
6. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve from the engine.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine.
2. Install the bolt securing EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve bolt to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




4. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar) in order to connect the following to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve (3):
- The EVAP purge hose/pipe
- The EVAP purge hose (1)
5. Install the left wheelhouse liner.
6. Lower the vehicle.
