Fail Safe System

If a failure has developed in one of the following sensor systems, driveability or safety may be adversely affected. To give an extra margin of safety in the event of system failure, the output of the Engine Control Module (ECM) will be switched automatically to the fail-safe mode.
- HO2S System.
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor System.
- Wide Open Throttle (WOT) Switch System.
- Mass Air Flow Sensor System.

BACK-UP CONTROL
In the event a malfunction has developed in the micro computer within the ECM, the back-up control system works to maintain the minimum necessary functions of the ECM to permit continuous operation of the Vehicle.
