Starter Motor: Service and Repair

Removal

Preparation: Remove battery negative cable.
1. Remove pre-catalytic converter fixing bolts and move aside pre-catalytic converter.
2. Remove exhaust pipe, front left.
3. Remove heat protector.
4. Disconnect the starter connector from terminals "B" and "S".
5. Remove mounting bolts on the inside and outside
6. Remove the starter assembly toward the bottom of engine.

Installation

1. Starter assembly.

Starter Removal:

2. Torque the mounting bolts 40 Nm (30 ft lbs).
3. Reconnect the starter wiring connectors to terminals "B" and "S".

Terminal B And Starter Mounting Bolt Torques:

Torque terminal "B" 8.5 Nm (73 in lbs).
4. Install heat protector.
5. Torque the exhaust pipe, front left.

Exhaust Pipe Torques:

Nuts 67 Nm (49 ft lbs).
Bolts and Nuts 27 Nm (20 ft lbs)
6. Torque the pre-catalytic converter fixing bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft lbs).
