ACTION:

^ Confirm this bulletin applies (refer to the Service Procedure).

^ Install Shim Spacers between the Audio Control Unit mounting tabs and the vehicle mounts to move the Audio Unit slightly closer to the Audio Finisher. Refer to the Service Procedure.

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTION" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

PARTS INFORMATION

CLAIMS INFORMATION

Submit a Primary Operation (P0) line claim using the claims coding table.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Confirm This Bulletin Applies

1. Inspect the CD Load and CD Eject Buttons.

a. If both buttons work OK and they stick out of the Audio Finisher when fully depressed (see Figure 2) this bulletin does not apply.

b. If one or both buttons do not work and do NOT stick out of the Audio Finisher when fully depressed (see Figure 3) proceed with step 2.

c. Make a note of which button(s) do not work / stick out of the Audio Finisher when fully depressed. You'll need this information later in the procedure.

Remove Audio Unit

2. Remove the Cup Holder Insert by pulling UP (see Figure 4).

3. Then remove the Cup Holder Assembly by pulling UP (see Figure 5).

4. Remove four Screws and re-position the Seat Heater Switch / Storage Console REARWARD (see Figure 6).

5. Record all radio station presets for later reprogramming.

6. Move the Shift Selector to Drive D as follows:

a. Apply the Parking Brake.

b. Place the vehicle ignition in the ON position (vehicle not started).

c. Depress the brake pedal and move the Shift Selector to Drive D (see Figure 7).

d. Place the vehicle ignition in the OFF position.

7. Re-position the Shift Console REARWARD so you can reach the Audio Finisher Lower Mounting Screws (see Figure 8).

8. Remove two Screws (see Figure 9a) and remove the Audio Finisher (see Figure 9b). Disconnect all Wire Harness Connectors (see Figure 9b).

9. Remove four Screws (see Figure 10a) and carefully remove the Audio Unit (see Figure 10b). Disconnect all Wire Harness Connectors behind the Unit.

Determine Where to Install Shim Spacers

10. Determine where to install the Shim Spacers as follows:

a. If the CD Load Button was found to be "NG" you'll need to install two Shim Spacers to the back side of the Audio Unit mounting tabs as shown in Figure 11.

^ You'll be installing one Shim per mounting tab (left-side tabs as viewed from the driver's seat).

^ However don't install the Shims yet. We'll cover this later.

NOTE:
Do NOT install Shims for a Button that works OK and sticks out when fully depressed.

b. If the CD Eject Button was found to be "NG" you'll need to install two Shim Spacers to the back side of the Audio Unit mounting tabs as shown in Figure 12.

^ You'll be installing one Shim per mounting tab (right-side tabs as viewed from the driver's seat).

^ However don't install the Shims yet. We'll cover this later.

NOTE:
Do NOT install Shims for a Button that works OK and sticks out when fully depressed.

c. If both the CD Load Button and the CD Eject Button were found to be "NG" you'll need to install four Shim Spacers to the back side of the Audio Unit mounting tabs as shown in Figure 13.

^ You'll be installing one Shim per mounting tab (left and right side tabs as viewed from the driver's seat).

^ However don't install the Shims yet. We'll cover this later.

NOTE:
Do NOT install Shims for a Button that works OK and sticks out when fully depressed.

Install Shim Spacers

11. Use suitable cleaner to remove any dust dirt or residue from the back side of the Audio Unit mounting tabs (i.e. the tabs that will have Shims installed on them). See Figure 14.

12. Install two pieces of double-sided tape on the back side of the Audio Unit mounting tab that will have a Shim installed on it (see Figure 15).

The tape is needed to hold the Shim in place when re-installing the Audio Unit.

IMPORTANT:
^ Do NOT cover the mounting tab hole with the double-sided tape. You MUST put one piece of tape on each side of the hole (see Figure 15).

^ If you cover the tab hole with double-sided tape, the ground path for the Audio Unit may be interrupted.

13. Install the Shim Spacer as shown in Figure 15.

Parts Re-assembly

14. Re-install the Audio Unit making sure the Shims are "sandwiched" between the Audio Unit mounting tabs and the vehicle mounts. This will reposition the Audio Unit slightly closer to the Audio Finisher.

15. Re-install the Audio Finisher. Then before you re-install anything else make sure the CD Load and CD Eject Buttons work OK and stick out of the finisher properly (when fully depressed).

16. Re-install all other components in the reverse order they were removed.

17. Reprogram the radio station presets.
