2006-2007 M; CLOCK LENS REPLACEMENT

IF YOU CONFIRM

The clock lens needs to be replaced for any reason (cracked, scratched, clouded, etc.),

ACTION

Replace only the lens. The lens is now available as a separate service part

NOTE:
Do not replace the entire clock assemble when only a lens is needed.

Submit a Primary Part (PP) type line using the claims coding shown.

IMPORTANT:
The purpose of "ACTIONS" (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the clock from the dash.

Refer to section D1 in the Service Manual for clock removal information.

2. Remove the 4 strips of fabric tape at the top and bottom of the clock assembly.





^ 2 of 4 tape strips are shown in Figure 1.

3. Carefully release the 4 clips holding the metallic cover.





^ 2 of 4 clips are shown in Figure 2.

^ Clips are at the sides of the clock.

^ Use a small flat blade screwdriver (pocket screwdriver).

4. Remove the cover and separate the lens.





^ Do not remove the reset knobs from the clock assembly.

5. Install the new lens and reassemble in reverse order.

^ DO NOT touch the clock surface or the inside of the lens with your fingers.

^ Keep the lens and clock-face free from dust and dirt.

^ Install new fabric tape strips included with the lens.

6. Reinstall the clock into the dash.
