If the edge of either front inner fender protector of a 1996-98 I30 is visible at the wheel well, it may have popped out of the correct position at the trailing edge of the front bumper (see Figure 1). This incident is often associated with high-speed driving in hot climate conditions.

A countermeasure inner fender protector is available which resists recurrences of this incident. Use this bulletin to install the countermeasure fender protector.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the wheel from the affected side(s).

2. Refer to page BT-7, Figure B, of the 1998 service manual to remove the incident fender protector.

3. Install the appropriate countermeasure fender protector (see parts table below).
