Service Procedure: Overview

Prior to performing any A/C diagnostic tests or repairs it is important to completely understand the incident experienced by the customer. Below are some recommendations to ensure that the customer's concerns are understood and properly addressed:

^ Listen to the customer complaint and accurately note the customer's comments on the work order.

^ Have the customer operate the system and attempt to duplicate the complaint. Observe the way in which the customer operates the controls and note this on the work order for the technician's reference.

^ Perform a check of the vehicle's service history. Note any previous complaints and the corrective action taken. Note if the A.T.C. trimmer has been adjusted for a poor heating or cooling complaint.

^ Use the attached Q45 Air Conditioning Poor or No Cooling Worksheet while performing an air conditioning system diagnosis and repair.
