SUNVISOR VANITY MIRROR REPAIRS
APPLIED MODEL: All Q45 (G50)
SERVICE INFORMATION:
If sunvisor replacement becomes necessary for the Q45, because either the sunvisor vanity mirror is broken at the cover hinge, or the sunvisor vanity lights are inoperative, follow these service procedures.
Note
For these incidents, it is NOT necessary to replace the entire sunvisor assembly.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
SUNVISOR VANITY MIRROR LIGHTS INOPERATIVE
Before making further repairs, verify that the appropriate fuse and/or vanity light bulbs are intact. Inspect the wire harness for the sunvisor vanity mirror light. Examine, especially, the area near the sunvisor pivot.
If the harness is broken or the insulation is chafed, exposing bare wires, replace the harness using the following procedure
1. Remove the sunvisor assembly and place on a clean work area.
2. Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver, gently pry off the lenses [2 piece assembly] of the vanity mirror lamp. Use caution so as not to damage the surrounding plastic of the mirror.
3. Remove the white stickers [4 pieces] which cover the mirror mounting screws. Remove the four (4) mounting screws and lift up the Mirror Assembly.
4. Disconnect the wire harness at the mirror. Set the mirror aside. Cut off the wire harness connector and remove the harness from the sunvisor.
5. Thread the replacement harness into place. Allow an extra 30-40 mm of slack harness at the pivot area. Attach the harness connector to the replacement harness and plug it into the mirror.
6. Reinstall the mirror assembly to the sunvisor.
7. Reassemble the sunvisor in the reverse order of disassembly.
8. Reinstall sunvisor to vehicle.
BROKEN VANITY MIRROR COVER HINGE
If the hinge is broken, replace the vanity mirror assembly, only. Part numbers can be found in the illustrated table of the PARTS INFORMATION Section.
