SERVICE INFORMATION:
A technician performing "On-Board Diagnosis" on the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) may encounter an Error Code "52" [Multiplex (MUX) Communication Error]. This incident represents a "false" MUX Communication Error (a "true" MUX Communication Error would not allow access into On-Board Self-Diagnosis).
Error Code "52" represents a break in MUX communication between the ATC Control Unit and the Auto Amplifier. A MUX Communication Error Code between these components is defined by one (1) fan blade; then, four (4) fan blades, each blinking two (2) times. This Error Code may occur because one of the ATC components has been disconnected during diagnosis or repairs.
NOTE:
Do not replace the ATC Control Unit and/or the Auto Amplifier for Error Code "52". These Error Codes are retained in self-diagnosis memory. The battery cables must be disconnected for at least one (1) minute to erase Error Codes.
