J30 CROSS-LINKING CLEAR COAT

APPLIED MODELS:
1993-94 J30

SERVICE INFORMATION

Some late production 1993 Infiniti J30 and all 1994 J30 vehicles will be finished with the New Cross-Linking Clear Coat (identical to that on the 1994 Q45). Originally scheduled for implementation on the 1994 models, it will also be applied to about 450 late production 1993 J30 vehicles. The following information will assist you in properly handling this change.

1. Owner's Manual/Literature Kit Update -- The Owner's Manual for these vehicles reflects car care and technical specifications for the new clear coat. Also, each literature kit for 1993 J30 models finished with NCLC will be labeled (orange 4" x 8" notice). Please do not mix Owner's literature between flourine and New Cross-Linking Clear coat (NCLC) models.

2. Vehicle Label -- Paint color codes do not change. To ensure refinishers use the correct repair materials, a label (silver foil) indicating NCLC will be placed in the engine bay (shock tower) on 1993 models to alert refinishers. Check this label if you have a question concerning which finish is applied. (No labels are applied on 1994 models.)

3. Monroney Labels -- All Monroney labels (including fluorine) were changed some time ago to reflect the term "Unique Clear Coat" whether flourine or NCLC equipped.

Service personnel and your independent Infiniti dealer designated body repair facilities have been provided with service procedures and paint material specifications in cross-linking clear repairs (refer to ITB93-024B). Sales Consultants should also be notified of these specification changes.
