Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve: Testing and Inspection

NOTE: Two Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valves are used in this system. The following steps should be performed for each valve.

Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) Valves:

- With engine running at idle, remove ventilation hose from the PCV valve.

PCV Test:

- If the valve is working properly, a hissing noise will be heard as air passes through it and a strong vacuum should be felt immediately when a finger is placed over valve inlet.
- If no vacuum is felt; remove PCV valve and shake it to check for a sticking plunger.
- Clean or replace valve as needed.

Repeat the same steps for the second valve.
