SERVICE INFORMATION

The V-5 compressor is no longer in production. A new compressor kit is available to convert the V-5 to a V-6 compressor system. This new V-6 compressor kit is designed for R-12 refrigerant systems only and none of the kit components should be used for R-134a refrigerant systems.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Discharge the A/C refrigerant using recommended Infiniti recovery equipment.





2. Install all of the kit components shown in Figure 1 onto the vehicle. Also replace the liquid tank using P/N 92131-60U00 (not included in the kit). Ensure the A/C compressor belt and all joint connectors are properly torqued according to "Service Procedures"in the HA section of the appropriate service manual.

NOTE:
On some vehicles, an oil migration by-pass hose is attached to the original high and low pressure hoses. This by-pass hose was used to improve V-5 compressor durability and is not required to complete the V-6 conversion. The by-pass hose can be discarded with the original high and low pressure hoses.





3. Affix the V-6 Component Service Label (supplied in the kit) to the vehicle engine room wall as shown in Figure 2. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before installing the label.

4. Evacuate and recharge the system with 2.4 - 2.6 lbs. (1.1 -1.2 kg) of R-12 refrigerant. Ensure the correct amount of refrigerant oil is installed in the system as described in "Compressor/Lubrication Oil" in the HA section of the appropriate service manual.

5. Perform an A/C system leak check and performance test to ensure a proper repair.
