Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. On models with Supplemental Restraint (SRS), disable airbag system, refer to Air Bags and Seat Belts/Air Bags (Supplemental Restraint Systems)/Service and Repair.
2. Remove lower steering column cover, then disconnect airbag module electrical connector.
3. Remove steering wheel side lid.
4. Using Torx bit 750H, remove right and lefthand bolts, then remove airbag module, noting the following:
a. Always place airbag module with pad facing upward. Do not attempt to disassemble airbag module.
b. Discard and replace airbag module attaching bolts.
c. Do not drop or impact airbag module.
d. Do not expose airbag module to temperature exceeding to 212°F.
e. Do not allow grease, oil or water to come in contact with airbag module.
5. Remove instrument panel assembly.
6. Remove heater unit assembly attaching hoses and electrical connectors, Fig. 4.
7. Remove heater unit attaching bolts, then remove.
8. Separate heater unit, then remove heater core attachments.
9. Remove heater core assembly.
10. Reverse procedure to install. Refill and leak test cooling system.
