Injector Connector/Part Kit Installation
This procedure describes how to replace damaged individual connectors. Repeat this procedure on as many connectors as necessary. Replacement connector kits can be ordered individually through Infiniti Parts and are designated as P/N 24027-60Y25 (passenger side, identified with green tape) and P/N 24027- 60Y26 (driver side, identified with brown tape).1. Using the following chart, cut the damaged connector wire to the appropriate length. Do not cut more off of the harness than is shown in the chart. Removing more harness than necessary will result in a harness that is too short.
Injector Number Cutting Length Instructions
1 2, 3, 4, 6 2 in. (50 mm) from the branch of the E.G.I. harness
5 6 in. (150 mm) from the branch point of the E.G.I. harness
2. Remove approximately 2 in. of the harness cover and separate the wires
NOTE:
Do not damage the wire when removing the wire harness cover.
NOTE:
The harnesses shown on the following pages are wrapped in red tape for clarity. Actual harnesses are wrapped in black tape.
3. Strip away the insulation to expose 3/8 in. of each wire. Twist the wires into a "pigtail".
4. Match the same size wires and insert the end of each exposed wire into the connector. Crimp the connection with a suitable tool. Make sure that all strands of the wires are inside the connector and that after the connector is crimped, the connector cannot be pulled off by hand.
5. Using a heat gun, heat the connector until the shrink tube (transparent part of the connector) conforms to the wire. Do not overheat the connector.
3. Route # 4 injector wire under # 6 and # 4 spark plug wires and just in front of the spark plug wire clamp. Route # 6 injector wire under the # 6 spark plug wire and just in front of the # 6 spark plug wire clamp. Tie wrap the EGI harness to the blow-by hose (connected to the air duct) at the branch point just above the spark plug wire clamp.
4. Attach the E.G.I. harness to the original harness clamps. Turn all three blow-by hose clamps and the air bypass hose clamp away from the harnesses. Add tie wrap.
