Engine Control - P0462 Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit Low Input - W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?
YES
> Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO
> Go to " Signal Circuit Inspection " procedure

Signal Circuit Inspection

Check Voltage
1. IG "OFF" and disconnect Fuel Sender & Fuel Pump Motor connector and PCM connector.
2. IG "ON" & ENG "OFF"
3. Measure voltage between Fuel level signal terminal of PCM harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification : Approx. 11 - 12 V




4. Is the measured voltage within specification?
YES
1) Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Go to "Check open in harness" as follows.
Check open in harness
1. IG "OFF" and disconnect Instrument cluster connector and Fuel Level Sender & Fuel pump Motor connector.
2. Measure resistance between Fuel level signal terminal of Fuel Level Sender & Fuel pump Motor harness connector and Fuel input terminal of Instrument cluster harness connector.
A. Specification : Below 1 Ohms




3. Is the measured resistance within specification?
YES
1) Go to "Check short to ground in harness" procedure.
NO
1) Repair open in harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check short to ground in harness
1. IG "OFF" and disconnect Instrument cluster connector and Fuel Level Sender & Fuel pump Motor connector.
2. Measure resistance between Fuel level signal terminal of Fuel Level Sender & Fuel pump Motor harness connector and chassis ground.
A. Specification : Infinite




3. Is the measured resistance within specification?
YES
1) Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
NO
1) Repair short to ground in harness and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
